About Us

Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH), Dhaka, is one of the most well-known hospitals in Bangladesh. The hospital’s name reflects the strong bond of knowledge, skills, and friendship shared between Bangladesh and Japan.

Founded in 1994 by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery in Bangladesh, and Prof. Jonaid Shafiq, a leading specialist in pain medicine, JBFH has been a center of excellence for nearly three decades. With a wide range of super-specialty consultants, the hospital continues to meet the growing medical needs of the population.

JBFH is also recognized for its long-term collaboration with the Down Syndrome Society of Bangladesh and the Geriatric Welfare Association, among other initiatives.

Japan Bangladesh Friendship Medical Services Ltd., the parent organization, operates several renowned nursing colleges in and around Dhaka. It is also working on major upcoming projects, including the Japan Bangladesh Friendship Retirement Homes and Geriatric Hospital in the rapidly developing Purbachal area of Dhaka.
